Loving Weather
Some of my mates from the Uni High class of ’72 have been commiserating by email about the wild winter weather many of us have been living with. I like what one of them, Catherine Pines, had to say about it:
Dear All,
I don’t usually say this out loud: I love weather and all forms of weather.
I love that weather is completely outside of our control and that we are all equal in its impact on us.I love that weather is fierce and wild and unpredictable and gives life (and inevitably takes life).
I love the native Americans gods of sun, rain, wind, thunder, lightening, etc.
Sometimes people say talking about the weather is trivial; weather has such a profound impact on so many aspects of our lives from survival to mood. I love that weather reminds us that we are one earth, all connected. I love that weather reminds humans that we cannot control or dominate nature: we must honor and work with it.Happy 2016 to all of you dear classmates
and may your weather be good.
Love,
Catherine
